A.W.I.JAPAN

ジム・シェファード氏は、A.W.I.Japan スーパーファイナルと同時開催が決定したＵＦＯジャパンメジャージャッジとして来日します。

そのジム・シェファード氏からメッセージを頂戴しました。

I have been involved in the sport of Frisbee for many years. I attended events in the Rose Bowl in the 1970s that included freestyle and guts as well as canine. Through other sports, I met up with Eldon McIntire and Alex Stein and began throwing Frisbees. On a routine photography trip through Tucson I brought home Madison, a small red cattle dog. Together we won the 1994 1st Annual Pro Beach Invitational on a windy day on the beach in Ventura. Maddy made many television appearances. Maddy and I took first place in the Alpo Open Regional in Denver in 1997, thus qualifying for the World Finals in Washington, DC that same year. Now at the tender age of 17 she spends days on the couch, happy in her retirement.

I have a great passion for the sport of canine Frisbee. My favorite canine athletes are Scooter, Hyper Hank and Maddy. My favorite team of all time is Gary Suzuki and Soaring Sam. Eldon McIntire and Irv Lander are my mentors in the sport. I have been judging for the past five years, have been a UFO board member for three years and I am involved with the Disc Dogs of Southern California. I live in Pasadena, California with my wife Katie, daughter Caroline, and of course Maddy, Karch, and Ricki (Maddy’s friends).

I am very happy to come to Japan and meet many new Japanese friends!

私はもう何年もフリスビー競技に関わっております。１９７０年代にローズボウルで行われたフリースタイル、ガッツ、フリスビードッグを含む競技イベントに参加しました。フリスビーを始めたきっかけは、他のスポーツを通じてエルディン・マッキンタイア、アレックス・スタインと出会ったことでした。

私はフリスビードッグに非常な情熱を持っております。大好きな犬は、スクーター、ハイパーハンク、それにマディーです。大好きなチームは、ゲーリー・鈴木とサムです。エルディン・マッキンタイアとアーヴ・ランダーはこの競技における私の良き助言者です。この５年間、私は審判としても活躍し、ＵＦＯの役員も３年勤めており、又、南カリフォルニアのディスクドッグにも所属しております。現在、妻のケイティ、娘のキャロライン、もちろんマディー、そしてマディーの友達カーク、リッキーとともにカリフォルニアのパザディナに住んでおります。
